CNN host Don Lemon went on The View Monday morning to beat up former President Donald Trump, claiming he had exposed the United States as a racist country.
“You write something that might surprise some people: ‘In 2016, Donald Trump was exactly the president we deserved and probably the president we needed. ‘Maybe the beginning is true,’ said Cohost Joy Behar. “I don’t know what is needed. Why are you saying that.”
Lemon sounds over Trump and racism
“I said it burns my tongue, I think I wrote that,” Lemon replied. “Donald Trump was a symptom, as we have said. Racism and that kind of madness have always been around. “
“Donald Trump was a symptom,” he added. “I think he was – he was the – I said the lingering ulcer or tumor that drove us to the oncologist’s office so we could diagnose and fix the problem.”
“I’m glad Donald Trump is behind us,” Lemon continued. “Look, if you believe in politics and politics, I’m not a political person – there wasn’t much that Donald Trump said or did or believed or achieved about politics. Mostly it serves to divide the land. “
“But he also exposed the racism and original sin of this country, namely slavery and racism and Jim Crow,” he admitted. “We thought we might be at a post-race time and we weren’t. We lived a lie. Donald Trump, I hate to say it, he showed us the truth and showed us who many of our neighbors are, not all, many of them. “

“People ask me all the time, especially young mothers, young white mothers, they say, what can I do? How can I fix this after George Floyd? I don’t have the vocabulary to teach my children. What can I do? ”He said.
“I’ve thought about it and given some advice,” explained Lemon. “That’s what the book is about. That’s one of the reasons I wrote the book. We have to start, like I said on the show, we have to teach the real history of this country, the history that African Americans brought to this country. “
“We need to start being realistic about God and the Bible,” he continued. “If you are a person of faith in this country and we know America is built on belief and religious freedom, it is a good start to showcase the true identity of Jesus.”
“This is more of a black or tan person than someone who looks like a white hippie from Sweden or Norway,” added Lemon. “We should start with this and bring that into your house, either a black or a brown Jesus. Jesus looked more like a Muslim or someone who is dark than a blond carpenter. “

“When your children ask you who this is, they say it is Jesus,” said the CNN host. “Jesus doesn’t look like the popular portrayal we have in our churches and at home, and we see it all over the media. This is a good start. “
“This is a good place for your kids to ask questions, and then you can go from there, and then we can – then we can get to a true reality about what America really is and then try to figure out how we fix this racism problem in the country, ”Lemon concluded. “It’s a spell that needs to be broken.”
