Will the property managers call for witnesses following the latest bombings over Kevin McCarthy’s screaming match with Donald Trump on Jan. 6, or will today be the final day of Trump’s second impeachment trial? We’ll find out soon.
The impeachment trial will be broadcast on major television news channels and streamed on their websites. Daily Kos will continue to have coverage.

I can’t wait to find out which Republican Senators care more about being primary than their country, their democracy, their children, their grandchildren, the truth, the decency, or their own name in history.

How much of that conversation was “Would you just close the # $% @ Tommy?”
Senators Mike Lee and Tommy Tuberville were huddled in the Senate before the trial began on Saturday. Trump attorneys Bruce Castor and Michael Van der veen came in and spoke to them. Lindsey Graham came over to talk for a moment.

Property managers will ask for at least one witness! Now van der Veen claimed: “There was a condition that there would be no witnesses.” Van der Veen now says he wants “over 100 deposits”.

You need 51 votes to get witnesses.

Van der Veen is mad. Really want to make that final argument and go home. Sure, let’s all have witnesses. Let’s get every damn person who has ever taken part in a Trump rally in there. I can’t imagine that would be better than a bunch of Trumpies showing up and saying, “The president told us to be there.”

Rep. Raskin urges Trump’s team to simply move his client forward.
According to Van der Veen, McCarthy denies the rumor that it didn’t happen. Now they say the conversation with Tuberville and Lee did not take place. Which is a lie.

“When Raskin said he wanted to call Herrera Beutler, Graham shook his head and put his hand on his forehand,” said the pooler @jason_donner

I like how grumpy van der Veen is this morning. You really don’t want anyone to hear this evidence.

Van der Veen: “It doesn’t matter what happened after the insurgents attacked this building.” This isn’t a great sale to the folks on the point of the spears.

Van der Veen now states that he would like Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris to come to his Philadelphia office. And people laugh at him.

MP Raskin says there was never a “condition” not to have witnesses. Doesn’t deal with the histrionics that van der Veen dealt with.

Now a roll-call vote on whether to have a debate on calling witnesses or summoning documents.

According to a source familiar with the work of the property managers, former Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short has been contacted for information about the Pence threat. Short didn’t respond, the source said.

The vote will take place with Collins, Murkowski, Romney and Sasse voting with Democrats. After the vote, Lindsey Graham changed his vote to “Yes”. Why is not clear, but you can be sure that the reason will turn out to be Jackassery.

At 55 to 45 years of age, the vote moves to an open debate on the calling of witnesses.
The witnesses themselves are entitled to vote as well, and no matter what van der Veen shouts, they can do so through Zoom or in any other manner approved by the Senate. Shit, Michael.
But the biggest point of the day could be Van der Veen screaming like nothing happened after the insurgents attacked the Capitol. If that wasn’t a tacit admission that the facts about how Trump handled the attack are damned, it was very close to it.

For your morning entertainment.

The reason they are all laughing at you, Van Der Veen, is because the Clinton impeachment trial was remotely videotaping the testimony of witnesses and then playing it back in the Senate. Nobody had to go to your office in Phillyaheedelphia. https://t.co/H8SDLQWKTa

What is happening to all the little clusters in the room right now is they are trying to work a deal. It could be that each side got a witness, or they could allow each side to call three witnesses, or it could fall apart and Republicans could call a thousand witnesses.
If McConnell is still in control of his caucus there will be some kind of deal, but that’s definitely not a sure thing.
