Biden lifts Trump’s national distress announcement on the southern border

In a letter to Congress on Thursday, President Joe Biden announced that he would lift the national emergency declaration on the US southern border that former President Donald Trump declared in February 2019.

To fund the construction of the border wall, Trump had issued the proclamation to divert funds destined for the Pentagon after it became clear that Congress would not support additional funds.

The move is linked to a number of other changes in immigration policy by the Biden government.

NEW: Biden overturns Trump’s February 2019 declaration of a national emergency on the U.S. southern border. Trump used this rationale to provide Pentagon funding of $ 1 + B to build border walls. Biden swears “no more American tax dollars [will] be diverted “to build the wall

Biden does not declare funding for the border wall

Biden stated in his letter to Congress:

“I have found that declaring a national emergency on our southern border was not justified. I have also announced that it will be my administration’s policy to stop diverting American tax dollars towards building a border wall and that I will be conducting a careful review of any resources appropriated or diverted for that purpose. “

On his first day in office, Biden stopped building the border wall by order of the executive branch.

This is the latest in a series of setbacks in Trump-era immigration policy.

Not everyone supports the movements.

On Monday, Chuck Jenkins, Sheriff of Frederick County Maryland, told Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends that Biden’s new immigration policy should “outrage every American,” and that the new policy would “make not only Americans less safe, but them too.” Immigrant communities. “

Jenkins spoke about a Washington Post report describing an unnamed ICE official as saying, “They abolished ICE without abolishing ICE,” and about new guidelines for Homeland Security officers leading to fewer crime arrests lower level will lead.

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee on Thursday demanded an explanation from the new Homeland Security Secretary on President Biden’s order to halt the construction of the border wall, saying it “thwarted the will of Congress.” Https://t.co/YRF7l3JAxX

Former ICE director: “Developed to give Dems more power”

Sheriff Jenkins is one of several law enforcement officers who warned of the dire consequences of the Biden government’s immigration reforms.

Former acting ICE director Tom Homan said in an interview with Fox News that he does not believe the new guidelines are “no coincidence” and that they are “designed to give Democrats more political power”.

Another victim of the immigration reform in Biden is Operation Talon.

A Fox News report describes it as a program aimed at illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes, including child abuse.

The report went on to say that an email was sent on February 3 ordering the suspension of Operation Talon.

Homan said, “Thousands of hours of investigative work go into planning these operations, from identifying targets to locating them and ensuring proper coordination by other law enforcement agencies.”

However, an ICE spokesman told Fox News that it will not be able to confirm future operations until they are complete.

Law enforcement continues to speak out

Police officers like Maryland Sheriff Jenkins and former ICE director Homan continue to talk about the Biden administration’s immigration policy.

Former DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf recently tweeted an article in the Washington Post saying the “Catch and Release” program will be reintroduced.

According to the report, Mexico has stopped accepting Central American families who are being “expelled” at the border. Because of this, CBP has had to release more families to the interior of the United States.

In an even more dangerous scenario, Sheriff AJ Louderback of Jackson County, Texas recently claimed on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson’s Show that the Biden government is releasing illegal immigrants into the United States without COVID testing.

Sheriff Louderback also reiterated that several immigration authorities are essentially hands tied when it comes to enforcing immigration law.

He stated: “Every peace commissioner in the United States should be extremely concerned about the attitude, the lawlessness and the total elimination of the law.”

Homan and Louderback both said the Biden administration is “sending a message to the rest of the world” that illegal entry into the US is fine.
