Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Democrats will not make the same mistake they made in 2009 and allow Republicans to cut aid to COVID.

Schumer said: “Our Republican colleagues, most of them were very negative, either want to do nothing or do something minimal,” said Schumer. “President Biden believes, and I agree with him, we need courageous, strong action. Now we want to do that with the Republicans, but if we can’t, we have to go ahead with this process of reconciliation on our own. “
The Senate Majority Leader later added, “Let’s hope we get bipartisan support, but we can’t make the mistake of 2009 when they scaled the program down to such a small degree of relief that the recession lasted four years out of five . and then they negotiated at the ACA for a year or a year and a half and then failed to come to an agreement. “
The Republican game book of disability they used against Obama is not going to work this time. Senate Democrats will not step down and let Mitch McConnell rule the Senate through obstruction. Senate Democrats will hollow out the filibuster and pass the COVID relief bill. They have no interest in playing the same old games with Republicans and are ready to deliver for the American people.
