Throughout President-elect Joe Biden’s campaign, if you can call it that, he was plagued by low crowds and lackluster energy at best. Now, his initiation committee has made it clear that his initiation ceremony will be similar, and they are already trying to stay one step ahead of that.
Biden’s Inauguration Committee issues statement
The Presidential Inaugural Committee released a statement Tuesday that Biden will be sworn in on January 20 in a scaled-down ceremony at the US Capitol with “strict health and safety protocols.”
“The footprint of the ceremony will be extremely limited and the parade that follows will be reinterpreted,” the statement added.
“Our goal is to create an inauguration that will keep people safe, honor the grand traditions of the presidency, and demonstrate the Biden Harris administration’s renewed American vision for inclusive, just, and unified citizenship,” added Tony Allen. the chairman of the committee.
The committee said it was determined to keep the crowd down by “asking the public not to travel and participate in the opening activities from home.”

Biden struggled to bring in crowds
However, given the extent to which Biden struggled to attract crowds during the election campaign, it does not seem necessary to ask people to stay home from this inauguration.
“Biden’s unwavering commitment to the safety of the American people is our north star as we plan an inauguration that protects public health while respecting the tradition of inauguration and engaging Americans across the country,” added Event Director Maju Varghese.

CNN reported that anyone attending Biden’s inauguration must wear masks and maintain social distance within the “ticket parameters”. There is also reportedly an “ongoing discussion about requiring COVID-19 testing for anyone standing on the main platform near the president-elect who is 78 years old.”
Deep down, Biden’s Inaugural Committee knows he will never be nearly as excited as Donald Trump. You can urge people to stay home as much as they want, but the vast majority of us would never come to Biden’s inauguration anyway.
