While the swing state tends to favor Democratic governors, North Carolina voters usually vote for Republican presidential candidates. Since 1980, North Carolina has only won a Democratic presidential candidate when Barack Obama scored 0.2 points over Republican opponent John McCain in 2008.

According to NBC, Biden is expected to receive 306 electoral college votes in the 2020 election. That’s well above the 270-vote threshold required to win the race – and it’s also the same number of electoral votes that Trump received against Clinton in 2016.

Trump has 232 votes, according to NBC. Ten days after election day, Trump has not yet conceded the race to Biden.
