President Donald Trump on Friday will comment on his administration’s efforts to develop and commercialize a coronavirus vaccine known as Operation Warp Speed.

Trump will speak in the Rose Garden at 4 p.m. ET, according to an update of his schedule by the White House press office.

The event will mark Trump’s first personal public statement in a week, and his first since news outlets, including NBC News, predicted Joe Biden would win the presidential election.

The update on Operation Warp Speed also comes five days after pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German biotech company BioNTech announced that their lead vaccine candidate is more than 90% effective in preventing Covid-19 among those with no prior infection.

Trump celebrated this breakthrough in an all-caps tweet and said the vaccine was “COMING SOON”.

President-elect Biden gave a more moderate response, noting that it would be months before a Covid-19 vaccine could be distributed across the country.
