WATCH: Steve Schmidt believes Tucker Carlson can be a Republican candidate in 2024

In late 2015, early 2016, nearly 20 candidates were fighting for the Republican nomination. Many of them had significant political experience as senators, congressmen, or governors of large states.

But in the end, GOP voters chose a failed businessman and reality TV show host as their flag bearer. It worked out fine for them as Donald Trump won the presidency and nominated 3 judges to the Conservative Supreme Court.

According to Steve Schmidt, it would be no surprise if Republican voters re-elect someone who has television experience rather than political experience. He believes the party will nominate Tucker Carlson during the 2024 trial.

Schmidt made the comments while speaking with Brian Williams of MSNBC. “I think Tucker Carlson is the front runner in the 2024 Republican nomination, ”he said. “What you will see is that any Republican candidate will turn to the conspiracy that Trump has been stabbed in the back by invisible malicious forces of the deep state, that the election has been stolen, that it is forever illegitimate.”

Schmidt continued: “More than a majority of the Republican Party will believe that this was an illegitimate choice because of the Murdoch operation, OAN, Sinclair, the toxic sludge of sewage and dung and disinformation and lies going to the US on Facebook flow, poisoned screens of the American people. So this is a long-term struggle. “
