Home Democrats, who’re anticipated to win seats, will as an alternative undergo losses

Democrats went on Tuesday in favor to expand their majority in the House. That doesn’t happen – in fact, Republicans are likely to make some gains while still missing the majority.

The Republicans took back several of the seats that the Democrats overturned in 2018. In Florida, Republican gains with Latino voters meant the fate of first-term Democrats. Donna Shalala and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. MP Max Rose lost the Trump-supporting New York District, which he won in 2018. Rep. Abby Finkenauer of Iowa, Rep. Kendra Horn of Oklahoma, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small of New Mexico, and Rep. Joe Cunningham of South Carolina all lost their races.

In Minnesota, longtime MP Collin Peterson, who was detained in an increasingly difficult district, lost his race.

Democrats also failed to flip many key targets, including several in Texas.

To top it off, Democratic Congress Committee Chair Cheri Bustos, who said, “We are well positioned to have a good night” ahead of the polls on Tuesday, said in her own re-election.
